Reflexology in Finchley

Treatments with Melanie Frankland, AoR member, CNHC registered

If you're looking for a reflexologist in Finchley or north London, you're in the right place. Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that many people find helps them unwind, ease stress, and feel more balanced. I'm Melanie Frankland, a reflexologist based at Health Space in Finchley Central, N3. I'm a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), and I offer treatments tailored to how you're feeling and what you'd like to focus on. This page explains what reflexology is, what to expect from a treatment, and how to book.

What is reflexology?

An ancient therapy for modern-day stress and wellbeing

Reflexology offers a gentle and deeply relaxing therapy that has been practised in different forms for thousands of years across many cultures, including those of Egypt, China, Australia, Africa, and Native America. Although it was only more widely introduced in the West during the last century, it has become increasingly popular as a way to support relaxation and wellbeing.

Reflexology works on the principle that applying pressure to specific points on the feet may encourage a sense of relaxation and harmony in the body. Many clients notice feelings of warmth, calm, or gentle energy flow during a session, and each person's response is unique. Some describe the experience as helping them feel calmer, more balanced, and more at ease.

This holistic approach can be particularly helpful at times of stress or change. Whether you are looking for a calming treatment during pregnancy, a way to unwind after a busy day, or simply a chance to nurture yourself, reflexology offers space to relax and recharge. At my practice in Finchley, I combine reflexology with breathwork and gentle herbal wellbeing advice for those who are interested, and home visits are also available.

Why Choose holistic health?

Alongside reflexology, I may recommend gentle wellbeing practices such as herbal teas or lifestyle approaches if this interests you. For those who would like to explore further, separate herbal medicine consultations are also available, focusing more on natural remedies and lifestyle support.

What to expect from a treatment

As a reflexologist and breath training coach, I offer a holistic approach to stress and pain, as well as to relaxation and wellbeing. Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that many clients find helpful for reducing stress, promoting deep relaxation, and supporting a sense of balance. My sessions may also include breath training techniques, which can help you feel calm and centred.

Before your first appointment, you'll be emailed a short health and wellbeing questionnaire to complete and submit. This helps me understand your background, lifestyle and any areas you'd like to focus on, so that your treatment can be tailored to you.

At your appointment, once you are comfortable on the couch or reclining chair, I will apply pressure to reflex points on your feet in a soothing sequence. During a session, you may feel deeply relaxed, sleepy, or sometimes more energised and talkative. Everyone responds differently, and all responses are perfectly normal.

After your treatment, you'll have time to rest quietly and enjoy some water. I usually suggest that clients take it easy afterwards, allowing the relaxation effects to continue, and many choose to avoid alcohol directly after a session to make the most of the treatment. I will also email you my aftercare advice sheet.

Alongside reflexology, I may recommend gentle wellbeing practices such as herbal teas or lifestyle approaches if this interests you. For those who would like to explore further, separate herbal medicine consultationsare also available, focusing more on natural remedies and lifestyle support.

How many treatments will I need?

Finding the right rhythm for you

Many clients find that a series of treatments, for example four sessions over four to six weeks, helps them get the most from reflexology. However, one-off treatments can also provide a calming and restorative experience. We can discuss what would suit you best when we meet.
