Achieving and maintaining optimal health is a goal that most of us strive for. However, it is not always easy to achieve, and often, we may find ourselves struggling to maintain a balance. It's essential to understand that perfect health may not be achievable, but what is achievable is enhancing our strengths and minimizing our weaknesses to stay healthy.
Our aim should be to live in harmony with ourselves, regardless of our individual circumstances. We need to identify when our healthy balance becomes weakened and take appropriate action to restore it before a severe disease takes hold. This requires us to become attuned to our bodies and take steps to maintain homeostasis, which is the body's condition of relative stability within its internal environment.
The endocrine system and the autonomic nervous system play a pivotal role in maintaining homeostasis in the human body. Keeping healthy requires the different aspects of ourselves to work together in a harmonious balance of activity. Any part of our body that becomes too excessive or deficient can gradually affect all the others, leading to an imbalance that depletes the body's energy and makes it more susceptible to disease.
Symptoms of illness represent the body's best method of dealing with an imbalanced state through its self-healing energy. By producing symptoms, our bodies are doing two things: signaling to us that we need to pay attention to the state of imbalance and trying to re-establish equilibrium/homeostasis given the present set of circumstances.
We mustn't become frightened by our symptoms as fear will only serve to disrupt our homeostasis and exacerbate our symptoms further via the stress response. Instead, we need to embrace them as a means of identifying the root cause of the problem and taking the necessary steps to restore balance and achieve optimal health.
Achieving optimal health is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey that requires us to become attuned to our bodies and take proactive steps to maintain balance. By doing so, we can enhance our strengths and minimize our weaknesses, staying healthy, and live a fulfilling life.
Homeostasis is the body’s condition of relative stability, within its internal environment. It is the physiological counterpart to the greater balance of all aspects of a person’s life. In the holistic world, homeostasis is frequently described as The Vital Force.
