As a Reflexologist, Medical Herbalist and Yoga Breathing coach, you will gain many benefits from your reflexology treatment that you wouldn't otherwise experience. Regular reflexologists' training does not give them the knowledge and skills to diagnose conditions, but my medical training as an herbalist allows me to do this. Whilst I will always refer you to your doctor if necessary, I can also avoid unnecessary trips to your GP, as my understanding of health and disease exceeds that of typical massage therapists.
Your reflexology treatment starts with a case history taking, covering your most critical areas of concern and any other relevant points. We can begin your treatment once we have completed this. You will be made comfortable on the couch or reclining chair, where you can relax and experience the treatment. If you are tense or flustered, perhaps from a busy, stressful day, I can employ yoga breathing techniques to calm your nervous system to help you become more receptive to the treatment. This method is essential to my treatment, as it removes barriers to getting the most from your treatment.
I massage the reflex points on your feet in a sequence. Whilst I am doing this, I make observations of the sensations and reactions that this elicits. Treatments can make you feel very relaxed and sleepy; conversely, you may feel energised and talkative. Your response and your innate ability to heal yourself will be unique to you. All responses to treatment are valid and an indicator of the healing process.
Once the treatment has finished, you will relax for a few minutes and drink some water. I encourage patients to take it easy for the next few hours and avoid frenetic environments. It is also best to avoid alcohol, as this may interfere with responses to treatment.
As a medical herbalist, I frequently recommend herbal teas or other supplements, and I can often supply these myself if you are interested. Additionally, suppose you are suffering from a specific health issue. In that case, I may recommend that you see me for an herbal medicine consultation to enhance your treatment using the power of herbal medicine.
I generally advise my patients to try and commit to four treatments over 4-6 weeks for reflexology treatments. However, depending on your circumstances, you may need fewer or more treatments over a variable time. A one-off treatment is also beneficial, but in this instance, the benefits are generally not sustained for more extended periods.
I am always here to assist you with any questions or scheduling enquiries you may have. Whether you prefer to contact me directly or use the convenient booking system below, I am always happy to help.
Members of the AoR have some of the highest levels of reflexology qualifications in the UK. The letters MAR after their name denotes a reflexologist's membership status – a sign of assurance that they have met the strictest standards of reflexology practice, they are insured to practise and that they are committed to continually developing their skills and knowledge.
